Acoustic Coffeehouse Rocks Xavier, benefits CFX Trips!
Since 2004, the Xavier Acoustic Coffeehouse has been a venue to highlight student and faculty bands and musicians, bringing the Xavier community together for good music, good coffee, and good times. On Friday, December 4th, more than 200 students, family members and guests watched a great line-up of student bands as they performed in the Commons gymnasium, raising $5,500 to benefit the upcoming round of Companions of St. Francis Xavier service trips.
Received with great enthusiasm by students, faculty, family, and friends, the Coffeehouse is a now a yearly tradition at Xavier, and the event was extremely successful. Xavier faculty member, Mr. Renzo Ventrella, hosted the evening, calling up bands and introducing bandmembers as they set up on stage. A team of student volunteers monitored sound levels and lighting effects and the room was packed to the rafters with supporters.
Mr. Joseph Petriello, director of Ignatian service programs, wished to thank all students and staff who helped with the event, and urges alumni and others to be sure to attend the new second Acoustic Coffeehouse, set for Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 7 p.m.
