McAllister brings plenty of law enforcement experience to the job. After retiring from the New York Police Department at the rank of inspector not too long ago, he worked as a consultant with the Newark Police Department, helping it implement the CompStat system that has done so much to help reduce crime in New York City.
Tom O'Hara '69 wrote last week, "Steve did not leave football behind when he embarked upon his law enforcement career. As anyone who has been involved with the NYPD football team over the past three decades knows, Stevie also had a long and successful career with New York's Finest as a player, coach and, finally, team president. (In the opening scenes of the film Pride and Glory, that's Stevie doing the play-by-play in the background at a NYPD football game. He was a lot more believable as an announcer than Colin Farrell was at strong safety, I'll tell you!) Stevie also served as president of the National Public Safety Football League."
Steve joins fellow Son of Xavier
Tom Tweedy '74— another gridironman— who serves as village trustee and deputy mayor of Floral Park. Also, former running back
Jerry Healy '68 serves Jersey City as mayor!
As I await further orders from Coach Stevens
